Christmas at Ridgeview

There's something truly enchanting about celebrating Christmas amidst the snow-covered splendour of the Canadian Rockies, and Ridgeview Manor transforms into a winter wonderland that would make even Santa himself feel at home. From the moment guests arrive, greeted by the warm glow of thousands of twinkling lights reflecting off fresh powder snow, the magic of the season envelops them. Our grand entrance welcomes visitors with a magnificent 9-metre Fraser fir harvested from sustainable local forests, lavishly decorated with handcrafted ornaments by regional artisans, whilst smaller trees throughout the property showcase different themes, from traditional Victorian to contemporary alpine chic. The scent of fresh pine mingles with spiced mulled wine and freshly baked gingerbread, creating an atmosphere that delights all the senses.
The culinary experience at Christmas is particularly special, with each of our restaurants offering festive menus that honour traditional favourites whilst showcasing innovative seasonal creations. The Pinnacle presents an elegant six-course Christmas Eve dinner featuring local delicacies like maple-glazed Alberta goose and wild mushroom wellington, whilst Antler Pub serves hearty classics perfect for warming up after a day in the snow. Christmas Day brings our legendary brunch buffet, complete with carving stations, fresh seafood displays, and a dedicated children's section with whimsical holiday-themed treats. Family-style Christmas dinner is served in our grand ballroom, transformed for the occasion with soaring ice sculptures and a ceiling draped in shimmering silver and crystal, creating the illusion of dining beneath a starlit winter sky. Throughout the season, afternoon tea at the Overlook becomes a festive affair with Christmas-inspired pastries and special holiday tea blends.
The activities programme during the Christmas period is designed to create magical memories for guests of all ages. Father Christmas takes up residence in his custom-built alpine cabin on our grounds, where children can share their wishes and receive a small locally crafted gift. Daily excursions include horse-drawn sleigh rides across Lake Louise, snowshoeing expeditions with guides pointing out winter wildlife, and torchlight evening ski events followed by fireside hot chocolate. Our annual Christmas Eve carolling procession, led by a local choir and winding through candlelit paths to a lakeside bonfire, has become a cherished tradition for returning guests. Indoors, activities range from gingerbread house competitions judged by our pastry chefs to mixology classes featuring holiday-inspired cocktails, ensuring there's something for everyone regardless of weather.
Perhaps most special are the thoughtful touches that make a Christmas at Ridgeview Manor so memorable. Guests return to their rooms each evening to find festive turndown treats crafted by our pastry team, whilst Christmas stockings personalised with each guest's name appear on Christmas Eve, filled with carefully selected local treasures and sweet treats. Our staff, many of whom have worked with us for decades, take pride in remembering returning guests' preferences, creating a sense of coming home for the holidays. Christmas morning begins with a champagne reception in the Great Hall, where guests gather around the piano for an informal sing-along before dispersing to enjoy their chosen festivities. Whether seeking romance, family togetherness, or peaceful reflection, guests find that a Christmas at Ridgeview Manor captures the true spirit of the season – warmth, wonder, and the timeless beauty of winter in the Rockies.
